Give Feedback on the City of Alexandria Detention Center Study
The City of Alexandria is conducting a study of the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center. Residents can take the five-question Community Feedback Survey until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, November 20. Your feedback will be part of a study on how the detention center should be funded, structured, and sustained.
The facility is well managed and meets applicable legal and professional standards. A study is needed, however, because the number of inmates housed in the facility has fallen in recent years. Today’s population also has more complex needs, and the City is working to understand what this means for the cost of operating the facility. The study will look at how the facility is staffed, funded, and operated, and what alternatives could better match the City’s needs.
No decisions have been made. The study will inform the outcome, not predetermine it.
Give your feedback on the priorities, concerns, and opportunities for the future of the detention center. The Community Feedback Survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. Survey data will be shared with City Staff, City Council, and other decision-makers.
