Alexandria, Va. — Alexandria Fire Department units are currently on scene of an active incident at 5140 Fillmore Avenue, where crews responded to a reported structure fire on the sixth floor of a residential building.

Upon arrival, crews forced entry and located one adult occupant unconscious and in cardiac arrest. Firefighters and emergency medical personnel immediately initiated life-saving measures. The individual was transported for advanced medical care.

The fire was small and contained to the apartment of origin. No extension to other units was reported.

The scene remains active as crews continue operations and the incident is under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
