City of Alexandria and Alexandria Health Department to Host Monkeypox Information Session 

For Immediate Release: September 2, 2022 

The Alexandria Health Department (AHD), in collaboration with the City of Alexandria, will host a virtual information session on monkeypox on Wednesday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m. Public health officials will address important community concerns including how the virus is spread, common symptoms, vaccine eligibility and what the City is doing to keep residents and businesses well-informed. Monkeypox continues to be a rapidly evolving situation as cases in Northern Virginia, D.C., and Maryland increase.  

Participants may register for the information session and submit questions in advance by visiting alexandriava.gov/Monkeypox.  

To learn more about how to protect yourself against this illness or check your eligibility for a vaccine visit alexandriava.gov/Monkeypox or call 703.746.4988, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. or email alexhealth@vdh.virginia.gov.
