The City of Alexandria is working to address the impacts of this evening's thunderstorm activity. The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities has prioritized clearing roads of debris and downed tree removal. Residents are reminded to stay at least 30 feet away from downed poles and power lines and report it by calling 866-DOM-HELP

Stay up to date on the Dominion Energy Outage Map for an estimated restoration timeline when one is available. There are three easy ways to report outages and track restoration times: 1) on the mobile iPhone and Google apps; 2) the Dominion Energy website; or 3) by calling 866-DOM-HELP (866-366-4357).

Alexandria residents are encouraged to protect their property against severe thunderstorm when it is safe by cutting down dead tree limbs or removing hazardous trees that could lead to future power outages or home damage. Additionally, residents should maintain their gutters and drains, removing debris that could restrict water drainage.

For additional information regarding severe weather safety and preparation, please visit The National Weather Service.

Be prepared and stay safe in the event of a power outage. Make a report, get updates, and sign up for text and email alerts in Virginia.

For immediate police, fire, or emergency medical assistance, call or text 9-1-1.
