Following a national search, Paul Valenti has been selected as Director of the City’s Office of Human Rights, effective June 23, 2025.

Valenti brings more than 25 years of experience in civil and human rights, employee relations, and public service leadership. He most recently served as Director of Human Relations and HR Compliance at St. Petersburg College in Florida, overseeing compliance functions and Title IX implementation.

“Paul Valenti has a strong background in civil rights enforcement and public service,” said Parajon. “He’s well-positioned to lead our Office of Human Rights and continue advancing equity and accountability in Alexandria.”

Valenti previously led the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s Miami District Office, covering Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He also directed Pinellas County’s Office of Human Rights, where he expanded protections for gender identity and gender expression and implemented a language access plan under Title VI.

He is a licensed attorney in Florida and Connecticut, a past board member of the International Association of Official Human Rights Agencies (IAOHRA), and a graduate of the U.S. Federal Executive Institute.

Valenti will lead the Office’s work to enforce anti-discrimination laws and promote equal opportunity across the City.
