Alexandria Commission on Persons with Disabilities Seeks Applications, Nominations for Scholarship and Awards

The Alexandria Commission on Persons with Disabilities (ACPD) is seeking applications for the Gerry Bertier Scholarship, and nominations for the John Duty Collins III Outstanding Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Award, and the Commitment to Disability Award presented in conjunction with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. The deadline for scholarship applications and award nominations is May 5.

Gerry Bertier Scholarship
Applications are being accepted for this merit-based scholarship, awarded to an Alexandria resident or student with a disability who is seeking post-secondary education.

Nominations are being sought for the following awards:

John Duty Collins III Outstanding Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Award
This award recognizes an individual who advocates for and contributes to the promotion of equal opportunity for persons with disabilities in Alexandria.

Commitment to Disability Award (in conjunction with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce)
This award recognizes a business serving persons with disabilities in the Alexandria community.

The awards will be presented at a reception on June 13, at 5 p.m., at the American Physical Therapy Association (3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100).

Visit alexandriava.gov/ACPD to submit a nomination for the Collins Award or to apply for the Bertier Scholarship. Visit thechamberalx.com to submit a nomination for the Disability Awareness Awards.
