Upcoming Condo and Community Association Training: Using Robert's Rules of Order

Registration is now open for the next Condominium and Community Association Training session for homeowners, property managers, and interested buyers of common interest communities. The City of Alexandria, in partnership with Alexandria-based law firm Mercer Trigiani, is sponsoring a series of workshops related to common interest communities (condominiums, townhomes, cooperatives, others) during FY2026.  The goals of the educational sessions include informing homeowners and homebuyers about the structure and governance of common interest communities; increasing the knowledge of community board members; and helping communities understand state laws related to common interest communities. The educational sessions are offered at no cost to participants, but registration is required.

There will be three sessions in 2026:

  • Saturday, January 10, 2026; 9:30am - 11:30am
Topic: Using Robert's Rule of Order to Conduct a Meeting  Register
  • Saturday, March 28, 2026; 9:30am – 11:30am
    Topic: Leasing a Condo Register
  • Saturday, April 25, 2026; 9:30 - 11:30 am
Topic: Dealing with Difficult People Register

Condominiums have traditionally been the most affordable homeownership housing option for first-time homebuyers in the City of Alexandria.  Recognizing the importance of common interest communities in preserving the region’s economic and social diversity, the City of Alexandria hopes to broaden awareness of community association management to strengthen and preserve these valuable housing resources for the future.  For additional information on this education series, please call the Office of Housing at 703.746.4990 or email kimberly.cadena@alexandriava.gov
