As the City of Alexandria gears up to celebrate its 275th birthday, the Alexandria Beautification Commission is thrilled to announce the commencement of nominations for the prestigious 2024 Beautification Awards. This year, as we mark this momentous occasion in the City's rich history, we invite residents, businesses, and community organizations alike to participate in recognizing and honoring the architectural splendor and urban charm that define our beloved City!
The Beautification Commission seeks nominations in the following categories: residential, commercial, architectural, and community. We are looking for buildings, homes, properties, and communities that exemplify excellence in enhancing the aesthetic appeal of Alexandria. In light of our City's 275th birthday, we are particularly excited to introduce a new dimension of urban charm into the mix, spotlighting balconies visible from the public right of way! This addition promises to further elevate the beauty of our cityscape, inviting all to revel in the architectural magnificence that graces our streets.
Criteria for judging will include plant materials, design, architecture, the integration of environmentally sustainable practices, maintenance, and neighborhood context. To assist participants in understanding the concept of "sustainable practices," we encourage all nominees to review our 2024 Beautification Awards digital flyer.
