Saturday, June 21 | 12-6 p.m.

Charles Houston Recreation Center (901 Wythe St.) between Henry & Alfred Streets

Free and open to the public

Get ready to celebrate freedom, history, and culture at Alexandria’s annual Juneteenth Festival! This family-friendly event will be packed with live music, local vendors, games, food, and a special award ceremony honoring community leaders.

As part of the festivities, the Alexandria Black History Museum will be open, offering engaging exhibits, cultural activities, and short films that highlight the significance of Juneteenth.

We’ll also be recognizing incredible local pioneers in an award ceremony, honoring individuals 60 and older who have dedicated at least 20 years to serving our community.

What is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865—the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally learned they had been freed, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This festival is a joyful celebration of resilience, history, and African American heritage, bringing our community together through education, entertainment, and connection.

Don’t miss this incredible day of fun, reflection, and community! Save the date and spread the word.
