Colasanto Interactive Fountain Opens Today
New Interactive Water Feature Brings Long-Awaited Recreation Experience to the Community
The City of Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities (RPCA) is excited to announce the soft opening of the Colasanto Interactive Fountain today, Thursday, September 10.
The opening marks a significant milestone for the long-awaited project and will provide Alexandria residents and visitors with a new opportunity to play, cool off, and enjoy the outdoors.
“This opening represents more than the completion of a project; it represents the community’s long-awaited opportunity to experience a new and engaging recreational amenity,” said RPCA Director Hashim T. Taylor. “We are excited to finally welcome residents to the Colasanto Interactive Fountain and see families and children enjoy this inclusive space. I am grateful to everyone whose hard work, coordination, and partnership helped bring this project across the finish line.”
RPCA recognizes the significant coordination and collaboration that made the opening possible, including the Virginia Department of Health, the City’s Code Administration team, Dominion Energy, project contractors, and the RPCA Park Planning team. These partners worked together to complete final inspections, coordinate utilities, meet construction requirements, and complete other necessary preparations to make the fountain ready for public use.
What to Expect
The Colasanto Interactive Fountain will begin its soft opening today, Thursday, September 10. During the initial opening period, RPCA staff will closely monitor the fountain’s operations and make any necessary adjustments to ensure the best possible experience for the community.
Residents are encouraged to stop by, experience the new interactive fountain, and enjoy this exciting addition to Alexandria’s recreational amenities.
RPCA is also working with community stakeholders to identify a date for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. Details about the celebration will be announced once finalized.
The Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities looks forward to celebrating this important milestone with the Alexandria community and officially commemorating the opening of the Colasanto Interactive Fountain.
