October Is for Fall Fun With RPCA

There’s plenty happening around Alexandria this October. From STEAM activities and community gatherings to Halloween games, costumes, and a little spooky fun, RPCA has events for kids, families, and everyone in between.

  • Chick Armstrong: Hispanic Heritage Celebration Dance
    All Ages
    Friday, October 9, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Leonard “Chick” Armstrong Recreation Center
    Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a community dance featuring music, refreshments, and cultural displays as we honor and celebrate Latino culture.
  • Durant Adult Socials: Chunky Pumpkin Workshop
    Ages 18+
    Friday, October 9, 7-9:30 p.m. at Oswald Durant Center
    Get festive and creative, making candles, chunky pumpkins, wood décor, and more.

  • Patrick Henry: Hispanic Heritage Celebration
    All Ages
    Saturday, October 10, 3-7 p.m. at Patrick Henry Recreation Center
    Join us as we wrap up Hispanic Heritage Month with a vibrant community celebration honoring the rich cultures, traditions, music, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities.
  • Breast Cancer Awareness 5K
    All Ages
    Saturday, October 24, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Cameron Run Regional Park
    Join us for this community 5K to honor survivors and raise awareness and support for breast cancer research and education.

    Friday, October 30, 6:30–9 p.m. at Mount Vernon Recreation Center
    Dance the night away, strike a pose, and enter the costume contest. Includes refreshments.

    A spooktacular night for teens with creepy, cool activities, eerie entertainment, and lots of treats.
  • Floating Pumpkin Patch
    All Ages
    Saturday, October 25 (multiple sessions) at Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility
    Swim in and pick your pumpkin right from the pool! Plus obstacle courses and Halloween treats.
