Earth Month 2026 — Lights, Camera, Action: Spotlighting Steps to a Greener Alexandria
The City of Alexandria is celebrating the 56th anniversary of Earth Month with “Lights, Camera, Action: Spotlighting Steps to a Greener Alexandria,” a month-long series of environmentally focused events, activities, and online initiatives. Join the City in highlighting Alexandria’s Eco-City vision, where residents, businesses, and local government work together to build a community that is mindful of the needs of future generations.
Throughout April 2026, each week will spotlight Eco-City principles and initiatives, offering a variety of opportunities to get involved, volunteer, and take action toward a greener Alexandria.
Events include stream cleanups to help remove litter and debris, improve water quality, protect wildlife, and reduce pollution. You can also attend the ALX Dog Walk and Sustainability Festival, where you can pick up a goodie bag, enjoy a free cup of coffee and baked treats, and explore interactive tables and park activities. In addition, take part in Eco-City Alexandria’s Earth Day celebration, featuring a tree planting and student art showcase at the Jerome “Buddie” Ford Nature Center.
