Upcoming Project
The City of Alexandria's Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities will address three of the park recommendations from the 2015 Neighborhood Park Plan.
- Recommendation #3 identifies the location of a new formal ADA-compliant entrance at Douglas Street, including furniture and landscaping.
- Recommendation #6 addresses improvements to repave the existing pathways and create a loop with the new sidewalk along Route 1.
- Recommendation #7 will install a shade structure and game tables at the existing plaza space.
These recommendations are all identified as ‘Medium’ priorities. The playground area will be redesigned with this project and will be constructed at a later phase.

The City hosted an Open House at Powhatan Park, where community members learned about the upcoming park renovation and public art process, asked questions, shared feedback, and connected with the project team.
