Mural Artist Roster
The Public Art Program is introducing the City's first Mural Artist Roster to help streamline the City’s artist selection process for murals and expand opportunities for muralists across Alexandria. Following a regional call for artists, a public art task force recommended the following 22 artists for the roster. In September 2026, the Alexandria Commission for the Arts approved those selections. The artists represent a range of experience, styles, scales, and budgets, supporting future mural projects in neighborhoods, parks, city facilities, and public spaces.
Important Considerations

If exterior mural designs incorporate text or commercial content, these elements must comply with the maximum sign allowances outlined in Section 9-200. If you have questions regarding these limits, please contact Planning and Zoning at zoning@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.4333.
Check to see if your building is located in one of the City's historic districts. If it is, there are Design Guidelines that may be applicable, including those that restrict the painting of unpainted masonry.
