Project Description

The City of Alexandria is implementing a comprehensive preventive and restorative maintenance plan for the culvert conveying Holmes Run under North Beauregard Street. This plan, which includes immediate targeted repairs to issues such as scour, deteriorated concrete surfaces, and corroded metal pipe, will preserve the structural integrity of the culvert by mitigating further deterioration caused by environmental and operational factors while enhancing the structure’s durability and functionality. By addressing these existing measures, the City will be able to extend the culvert’s service life and ensure its continued safety and efficiency for both transportation and drainage.

The construction contract was advertised and the bid opened on March 13, 2025. Active construction is anticipated to begin in July 2025.

Construction Impacts

Construction will require the periodic closure of a lane on North Beauregard Street near the project area during construction hours. Flaggers will be present to direct traffic.
