Project Description
The City of Alexandria is widening and upgrading the existing median along South Patrick Street between (approximately) Wolfe Street and Jefferson Street to improve pedestrian safety and calm to flow of traffic through the corridor. The new median will span 10' to 12’ and feature curb ramp upgrades, additional crosswalks and pedestrian signals, median refuge islands, and new trees.
Funding
Project Budget: $4,280,500
This project will be paid for using Virginia Department of Transportation SMART SCALE funding.

Design
Design Overview
The original concept plan for South Patrick Street is being updated to reflect the City's Vision Zero Plan and Complete Streets design guidelines to improve pedestrian safety and improve connectivity between the Southwest Quadrant neighborhood and Old Town Alexandria east of South Patrick Street (US Route 1).
