Project Description

RPCA RO Chinquapin 4

Changes are coming to the inside of Chinquapin Park Recreation Center and Aquatics Facility.  Construction  will begin on July 8, 2025, and continue through January 31, 2026.

Please note that standard operations will continue throughout the construction period. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the facility while continuing to serve the community.

Chinquapin Park Rec Center is one of the City's 10 recreation centers, and features a year-round 25-meter indoor pool & diving well, outdoor basketball court, locker rooms, nature trails & park, lighted tennis courts, recreation programming, rental rooms, men's & women's saunas, fitness room, playground, racquetball courts, soft playroom, outdoor picnic pavilion, sand volleyball court & more.

Visit the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center and Aquatics Facility webpage for more information.

Interior Renovations

Starting in late 2024, Chinquapin Park Rec Center 's front desk, lift, and pool office will undergo renovations:

Lift and Stairs

The facility will feature a new scissor lift where the stairs currently go down to the ladies' room. The new equipment will replace the existing lift that is no longer Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant and cannot be maintained due to parts shortages. The space occupied by the old lift will be used for facility storage. The stairs near the men's room will remain in their current design.

Pool Area

The pool is getting a new office along the pool deck that will give the lifeguards additional, more convenient storage and a better view of the pool. The old pool office will be converted into a family changing and shower room.

Front Desk Area

The front desk area will undergo renovation as well. The front desk will be moved to a new space to the left of the stairs. The new work station will better meet staff needs, create more open space and provide better access to both the stairs and new lift.
