Parker-Gray/Braddock Metro Community Invited to Discuss Experiences and Ideas on Neighborhood “Walk & Talk”

People who live, work, and spend time in the Parker-Gray/Braddock Metro area are invited to join a short walk to talk about the neighborhood and how it shapes their health.

RSVP online to attend the Parker-Gray/Braddock Metro Walk & Talk on January 18, 2025, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m (new date). Walking groups will start at Charles Houston Recreation Center at 901 Wythe Street, Alexandria, VA 22314.

Please note, you may have seen this event date advertised elsewhere as January 11. The event was originally scheduled for January 11 but was postponed to January 18 due to the impending winter storm.

Leaving from Charles Houston Recreation Center, small groups will walk a one-mile loop around the neighborhood, sharing their experiences and observations in the area. City staff will join the walks to hear about problems and feedback about how to make a difference in the community.

Hot cocoa, coffee, and hand warmers will be provided. Routes will be accessible for all ages and mobilities. Interpreters are available upon request.  Need help getting to the event? Check out Alexandria’s transit options and information on parking.

The event will be hosted by Alexandria Health Department, Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Alexandria’s Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities, and the Social Responsibility Group as part of the City’s 2024 Community Health Assessment (CHA). It is one of several Walk & Talk events being planned across Alexandria in 2025.

Feedback from the Walk & Talk's will be combined with health data and results of the City’s 2024 community-wide health survey to help identify Alexandria’s top health priorities and guide our City’s next five-year Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

To learn more about this Walk &Talk and other opportunities to share your voice on Alexandria’s health, visit Alexandria’s CHA/CHIP website.
