Affordable Housing Spotlight

Margot, a new apartment community located at 425 Montgomery St., Alexandria, VA 22314 is providing 16 new apartments ranging in size from junior one bedroom to two-bedroom units under the City’s Affordable Rental Set-Aside Program. The units will be affordable at 60% of the area median income.  

Ten committed affordable apartments are being delivered as part of the first phase, tentatively in December and January 2027. One accessible unit will have grab bars in the bathroom, side-by-side washer/dryer, and wider clearances in kitchen and bathrooms.

Building amenities include: 24-hour fitness center, library with fireplace, on-site garage parking, bike storage, and EV charging, and a pool and sun deck.  

If you are interested in this exciting housing opportunity, please review the lottery selection and application process for this new property:

1. Add your name and contact information to the property Interest List by visiting:  www.margotoldtown.com

2. A randomizer lottery selection will take place on Monday, November 2, 2026.

3. The property will select one prospective resident for each available unit.

4. The Leasing Office will contact each of those selected from the Randomizer and request an application. 

5. Applicants will have 48 hours to pay the application fee ($50), and provide the application and backup documentation, to secure the apartment.

6. The property prefers you to submit the application via email, however, if necessary, an address will be provided for those who wish to provide their application in-person. This location will be disclosed once the name is selected from the lottery. 

7. Leasing will proceed with move-ins expected for some time in December 2026 or January 2027.
