AUGUST 2025

Sheriff and ASO Celebrate National Night Out

On August 5, Sheriff Sean Casey and Sheriff’s Office staff joined our partners from the Police and Fire Departments, along with City leaders, to celebrate National Night Out. Sheriff Casey and our team had a fantastic time visiting dozens of neighborhoods throughout Alexandria and enjoying cookouts, block parties, and other family fun events. It was a special opportunity to connect with residents, share laughs with kids, and strengthen relationships with the communities we proudly serve, as we work together for a safer Alexandria.

Sheriff and Deputies Welcome Students Back to School

To help kids be fully prepared for the new school year, ASO supported back-to-school events and celebrations across Alexandria where families picked up free backpacks and school supplies from Casa Chirilagua, Shiloh Baptist Church, Uncut Youth, Firefighters & Friends to the Rescue, Monumental Sports and more! ASO employees personally donated to school supply drives organized by Deputy Montgomery for Mount Vernon Community School and by the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for Mentoring Education Together with Children's Back-2-School Slam Jam Madness. Deputies joined police and firefighters at Presidential Greens’ end of summer festivities, and then on the first day of school, Sheriff Casey and our school liaison deputies were also on hand to greet elementary students. Wishing all of ACPS a fun and safe year!

ASO Launches New Recruiting Website

The Sheriff’s Office continues to prioritize hiring qualified candidates to serve as deputies. In support of these efforts, ASO just launched a new website dedicated to recruiting deputies and introducing potential applicants to rewarding career opportunities. JoinASO.com features current deputies sharing their own experiences, highlights our excellent benefits (including working just 15 days a month), and what we do to prepare recruits for success. Many thanks to Alexandria-based Ironistic for developing and designing our new site!

ASO Encourages Alexandrians to Recognize and Report Suspicious Activity

This summer marks the 15th anniversary of the “If You See Something, Say Something ®” national campaign to encourage people to report suspicious activity, particularly as it relates to terrorism. This is also a good time to consider what constitutes “suspicious activity,” to know your options for reporting it, and to test your own observation skills. The Sheriff’s Office has helpful information and links on our website to help you spot the signs of terrorism and terrorism-related crime. Thank you for helping to keep our community safe!
