Community Support Bureau
Community Support Bureau
The Community Support Bureau (CSB), led by Assistant Chief Tina Laguna, works to strengthen the connection between the Alexandria Police Department and the community we serve. Through proactive engagement, special operations, and continuous professional development, the Bureau enhances public safety and fosters trust across our city. The CSB is the central hub for citywide community engagement.
The Bureau is comprised of three divisions—the Special Operations Division, the Community Engagement Division, and the Personnel & Professional Development Unit—each dedicated to advancing their shared mission.
- Community Engagement Division: This division builds meaningful partnerships with residents, schools, and community organizations to support youth engagement and collaborative problem solving. It includes the Youth Services (School Resource Officers and Youth Resource Unit) and Community Services Sections (Crime Prevention Unit, Alexandria Tourism Oriented Policing Unit, and Alexandria Co-Responder Unit).
- Special Operations Division: This division promotes safe neighborhoods through evidence-based traffic enforcement, homeland security initiatives, and coordinated special operations. (Includes the Traffic Safety and Homeland Security Sections).
- Personnel & Professional Development Division (Recruitment, Hiring, Training, and H.R./Labor Relations) ensures that APD continues to serve Alexandria with integrity and professionalism. This unit is committed to hiring the best candidates to ensure the agency's culture is strongly geared toward meaningful community engagement and the unbiased, respectful treatment of all residents. It invests in the growth and well-being of all APD staff through training, mentorship, and leadership development.
Together, these divisions ensure that the Alexandria Police Department continues to serve the city with integrity, professionalism, and a steadfast commitment to community partnership. Our Community Resources are designed to help residents stay informed, engaged, and empowered in all aspects of public safety and neighborhood well-being.
