Office of the Police Chief
Welcome to the Alexandria Police Department website. I’m Chief Tarrick McGuire. On behalf of the men and women I’m fortunate to call colleagues, I want to share a few words about what drives us. We are proud to serve and protect the Alexandria community and we are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and service.
At the core of our mission is a dedication to ensuring that every interaction with members of the community is respectful, fair, and just. Guided by the principles of the U.S. Constitution, we strive to balance upholding public safety with safeguarding individual rights.
We believe that developing strong relationships, both in the community and in the region, is key to effective policing. Through collaboration with residents, businesses, and other local organizations, we can address concerns and create safer neighborhoods for everyone.
By sharing what we’re doing openly with those stakeholders, we can foster trust and encourage involvement. That belief is at the core of our 100-Day Action Plan, which you can review here. Your input is invaluable to the success of public safety in our city. In the coming months we’ll be hosting a series of in-person town halls and we hope you’ll join us for conversation and feedback.
