Chinquapin Loop Parking Permits
2024-2025 School Year Parking
The Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities (RPCA) provides parking spaces to Alexandria City High School (ACHS) employees and students that have a valid driver’s license in their name. ACHS staff and students interested in parking along the Chinquapin Loop during the school day will need to apply for and purchase a parking permit from RPCA.
Eligibility & Priority
Faculty and staff assigned to the ACHS and Minnie Howard Campus are eligible to purchase a Chinquapin Loop Road parking permit. Students with a current valid driver’s license at the time of purchase, assigned to the ACHS and Minnie Howard Campus, are also eligible to apply for a parking permit. Driver's permits will not be accepted.
Chinquapin staff will review application forms and verify payment to determine eligibility for a parking permit. ACHS administrators can submit a rejection of any student’s eligibility to Chinquapin Management. NOTE: All students must be in good standing. If you have questions about your eligibility, please contact us at Chinquapin@alexandriava.gov.
How to Obtain a Parking Permit
Obtaining a parking permit is a three-step process:
- Step 1: Fill out and submit a parking application form (link below).
- Step 2: Pre-purchase a parking permit (link below).
- Step 3: Provide a current valid DMV Driver’s license at pick-up.
All steps must be completed before a parking permit decal will be issued. Incomplete applications, lack of payment, and/or no current valid DMV Driver’s license will result in a cancellation and refund of any fund submitted.
Once steps 1 and 2 are completed by parents/guardians and verified by RPCA employees, families will receive an email confirmation to pick up their permit. Towing enforcement will commence September 30, 2024, so please plan accordingly.
Step 1: Application
Permit applications may be submitted by filling out and submitting the Chinquapin Parking Permit Application FormPlease submit completed forms to Chinquapin@alexandriava.gov. Once submitted, each application form is reviewed for eligibility. If you have questions about the form, please contact RPCA at Chinquapin@alexandriava.gov. Payment is required at the time the application is submitted. Incomplete applications will not be processed. A parking permit must be purchased to complete the application. Ineligible applicants will be contacted and refunded.
Step 2: Pre-Purchase
Faculty, staff, and parents/guardians of eligible students can purchase a parking permit online on WebTrac. To begin, click on "Activities & Trips," scroll down to "Chinquapin Parking Loop Registration," and add it to your cart. Next, log in or register for an account, then complete payment. Parking Rules and Regulations
A parking permit is required for parking along Chinquapin Loop Road from September through June, Monday through Friday, from 6:30am to 3:30pm. - Under no circumstances shall a permit holder sell, transfer, or convey use of their parking permit to another individual.
- Individuals parking on the Chinquapin Loop Road do so at their own risk. The City of Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is not responsible for damage, vandalism, and/or mischief that may occur to the vehicle while parked on the Loop Road.
- Permit decal must be displayed on the inside of the upper corner of the driver’s side windshield slightly down from the top corner so that it is always visible from the outside of the vehicle during required hours.
- Permit holders shall not park in the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center and Aquatics Facility parking lots or other areas designated by prohibiting signage.
- Permit holders shall alert Chinquapin staff (3210 King Street) if no parking is available on the Loop Road: 703.746.5441.

How to Display Your Decal
Display location: Apply decal on the inside of the upper corner of the driver's side windshield. It should be visible below any tint. Once you apply it to your windshield, it is highly recommended that you step outside of your vehicle and look to ensure that the decal is visible from a distance. If Parking Enforcement cannot see your decal, your vehicle will be ticketed and/or towed.
Tips for applying your decal:
- Keep decal away from solvents and chemicals.
- Apply decal at room temperature.
- Clean the surface before you apply your decal. Dry the surface completely.
- Decals stick best to smooth, flat glass. Avoid sticking decal on curved, textured, dirty, or wet surfaces.
- Bend back the decal to expose the tab around the decal.
- There is a ring around the decal that makes it easy to lift off the decal.
- Peel the decal off the liner. Be careful not to touch the adhesive.
- Apply even pressure across the entire decal to ensure full bonding.
- Adhesive decals need 24 hours to fully bond to any surface.
- Avoid picking, rubbing, or scraping decal.
