GO Alex: Alexandria’s Resource for Transportation Alternatives

GO Alex encourages the reduction of automobile dependence, increasing mobility, and improving air quality through the promotion of public transit, ridesharing, bicycling, and walking as money and time-saving alternatives. GO Alex also works to improve the commuter experience, assisting employers with creating customized commuter programs for their employees.

The City of Alexandria is participating in International Car Free Day on Friday, September 22. Together with other local jurisdictions throughout the Washington, D.C., area, the City is encouraging Alexandria residents and workers to  take transit, bike, walk, or work remotely in lieu of driving their vehicle alone that day.

Those who do not drive on September 22 are eligible to win prizes and participate in special promotions, courtesy of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments. Pledges may be signed  here. GO Alex will also have an outreach event on Friday in front of City Hall (301 King St.) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
