Potomac Yard is poised to become the vibrant, diverse, and sustainable mixed-use community envisioned through the City's Master Planning process. To achieve this goal, the City is making major infrastructure investments to support the growth and enrichment of this nascent community. The links below lead to many of the area-specific projects and plans involved in this process.
Potomac Yard Metrorail Station Project
The new Potomac Yard Metrorail Station will provide an extensive range of benefits and transportation options for Alexandria and the surrounding area. It is also expected to generate billions of dollars in new private sector investment and eventually support 26,000 new jobs and 13,000 new residents.
Potomac Ave. and Glebe Rd. Complete Streets
The volume of pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and vehicles traveling through the intersection of Potomac Ave. and Glebe Rd. will increase when the Potomac Yard Metrorail Station's South Pavilion opens. The goal of this project is to reduce conflict between all who travel through this area.
National Landing - Potomac Yard Metroway
Since launching in August 2014, the National Landing-Potomac Yard Metroway provides frequent Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) premium service between the Braddock Road Metro Station and Pentagon City Metro Station, with service through Potomac Yard and the Crystal City area of Arlington.
