MISSION AND VISION

 

The Alexandria Recovery Court (ARC) serves adults charged with non-violent felony offenses who struggle with moderate to severe substance use disorders. Our mission is to support individuals in achieving recovery while enhancing public safety by reducing recidivism.

ARC exemplifies a model of citywide collaboration, bringing together a diverse array of agencies to support our mission. Key partners include, but are not limited to, the Alexandria Sheriff's Office, the Office of the Public Defender, the Circuit Court, the Office of the commonwealth's Attorney, the Alexandria Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS), the Office of Probation & Parole, the Alexandria Police Department, and the City Manager's Office.

Program Eligibility 

All participants must demonstrate a genuine willingness to change and commit to sobriety. 

All participants must be a resident of the city of Alexandria. 

Step 1: The Legal Process 

A referral is received and reviewed by the ARC treatment team. The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney will verify the potential participant's eligibility. 

Step 2: Eligibilty Screening 

The potential participant's address is verified by ARC probation and law enforcement. A clinical assessment is completed which will determine a potential participant's treatment needs. 

Step 3: Program Acceptance 

The participant signs a contract agreeing to all program requirements. The participant will agree to a minimum 15-month commitment to their recovery journey. 

 

Participant Requirements 

  1. Court Attendance 

    Participants must attend all scheduled court dates and required meetings with your assigned clinical therapist, and probation officer to track progress and address challenges. 

  2. Treamtent Completion 

    Participate in and complete all substance use and mental health treatment programs as required by one's specialized treatment plan. 

  3. Community Service 

    Participants will preform assigned community service hours and follow all program recommendations to build responsibility and community connections. 

  4. Compliance Monitoring 

    Participants will submit to regular drug testing and other compliance checks to demonstrate commitment to sobriety and program requirements.

    Work with a dedicated team including a Judge, Program coordinator, Probation officer, Clinical therapist, Commonwealth's Attorney, Defense Attorney, and Community Police Officer, who collaborate to support your recovery journey. 

     

  • TREATMENT ACCESS

    Gain access to essential services including intensive treatment, individual and group therapy, medication management, including medication-assisted treatment, and peer support to address all aspects of recovery. 

     

  • RECOVERY CAPITAL 

    Beyond sobriety, ARC focuses on life improvement, including strengthening family connections, gaining employment/education, and securing stable housing.
