Did you receive a summons to serve as a petit/trial juror from Alexandria Circuit Court?
If so, please follow these instructions carefully.
You are being summoned to serve as a petit/trial juror.

(STEP 1) - Immediately acknowledge receipt of the summons.
Call 703.838.4237 (24 hour number) . State your FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, JURY GROUP NUMBER (located in pink on the jury summons).
Do not leave any other message on this recording. If you need to speak with the Jury Coordinator, call 703.746.4119.
(STEP 2) - COME TO COURT ONLY ON THE DAY YOUR GROUP IS SUMMONSED.
To determine if your group is needed to report to Court on the next business day, call 703.838.4110 (the Court's Juror Information/Reporting Line) and listen for your group number.
The Juror Information Line (703.838.4110) is an outgoing message that is updated every business day after 4:00 p.m. to list the jury group numbers of jurors who need to report for jury duty on the following business day.
A. On the FRIDAY before your term of service, wait until after 4:00 p.m., and call the Juror Information/Reporting Line to hear if your group is needed on MONDAY morning. If your group is summonsed, report to the 4th floor Jury Assembly Room at 520 King Street by 8:30 a,m.
Call 703.838.4110 (24 hour number) and listen to the recording. COME TO COURT ONLY IF YOUR GROUP IS SUMMONSED.
B. On the MONDAY after 4:00 p.m. - call again to hear if your group is needed on TUESDAY morning. If your group is summonsed, report to the 4th floor Jury Assembly Room at 520 King Street by 8:30 a,m.
C. On the TUESDAY after 4:00 p.m. - call again to hear if your group is needed on WEDNESDAY morning. If your group is summonsed, report to the 4th floor Jury Assembly Room by 8:30 a,m.
D. On the WEDNESDAY after 4:00 p.m. - call again to hear if your group is needed on THURSDAY morning. If your group is summonsed, report to the 4th floor Jury Assembly Room by 8:30 a,m.
E. On the THURSDAY after 4:00 p.m. - call again to hear if your group is needed on FRIDAY morning. If your group is summonsed, report to the 4th floor Jury Assembly Room by 8:30 a,m.
3 JURY QUESTIONNAIRES
JUROR QUESTIONNAIRES (updated 5/1/2022)
Once a year (typically in September-October), the Supreme Court of Virginia mails confidential Juror Questionnaires to prospective jurors for the City of Alexandria's Master Juror List for the upcoming calendar year. The questionnaires are mailed to City of Alexandria residents who are randomly selected according to Section 8.01‑345 of the Code of Virginia. The questionnaires are reviewed by the Jury Commissioners to determine eligible jurors for the following calendar year.
A. IF YOU RECEIVE A JUROR QUESTIONNAIRE
(1) Please DO NOT call the Court at this time.
(2) Complete the questionnaire as best you can.
(3) Return the questionnaire to the Court within ten (10) days in the envelope provided to 520 King Street, Room 307, either by U.S. Mail or hand delivery to the Clerk of Court (Room 307).
B. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR JUROR QUESTIONNAIRES
(1) You are NOT being summonsed to serve as a juror at this time.
(2) The questionnaire is for the next Calendar Year. If you are determined to be qualified by the Juror Commissioners, your name will be included on the Master List of Jurors, from which names will be randomly selected for jury service during the next calendar year.
(3) Previous Jury Service - Make your best guess if you cannot remember the exact date. The court will confirm the information when your questionnaire is returned.
(4) Questions? Write a note at the bottom of the questionnaire or attach a separate note. The Jury Commissioners will review your question and make a determination.
(5) Recipient moved? If the addressee no longer resides at the address, please mark the envelope "return to sender", and mail to the court in the envelope provided.
(6) Request to be excused from jury service - Write a note at the bottom of the questionnaire or attach a separate note. The Jury Commissioners will review the request and make a determination.
(7) Son or Daughter's Questionnaire - If the questionnaire is for your son or daughter who is away at school, please answer the questions for your son or daughter, sign your name as parent, and return the questionnaire to the court in the envelope provided.
(8) Special circumstances - Write a note at the bottom of the questionnaire or attach a separate note. The Jury Commissioners will review the request and make a determination.
