Student Poster Exhibition Celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Legacy

The Alexandria Black History Museum, part of the Office of Historic Alexandria, invites the community to attend the opening of the 2025–26 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Student Poster Exhibition on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 1–3 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, 901 Wythe Street.

Celebrated for more than 30 years, the annual exhibition showcases hundreds of posters created by Alexandria City Public Schools students in grades 2–5. This year’s theme, Dreaming Together: Learning from the Past, Shaping the Future, encourages young artists to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy while envisioning a more just and hopeful future.

The opening event is free and open to the public and includes a welcome reception for students, families, and community members. The exhibition will remain on display at the Charles Houston Recreation Center from February 1 through March 1, 2026.
