Music of the American Revolution Concert Celebrates America250 in Alexandria
Join us on June 18, at the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum, 201 S. Washington Street, for Music of the American Revolution, a special concert celebrating the 250th anniversary of America’s War for Independence. Tickets are available now through the Historic Alexandria Shop Events.
Presented in partnership with Alexandria Sister Cities, the program features renowned music historians David and Ginger Hildebrand for performances of special period music. The Hildebrands will don period attire to discuss and perform music associated with Alexandria’s sister cities: Caen, France; Dundee, Scotland; Helsingborg, Sweden; and Gyumri, Armenia. The performance highlights Scottish influences in colonial America and also honors French allies of the Revolutionary cause, including Generals Lafayette and Rochambeau.
David and Ginger Hildebrand are nationally recognized experts in early American music. Since 1980, they have presented concerts and educational programs across the country and internationally, with past partnerships including Mount Vernon, the National Gallery of Art, the National Archives, and Colonial Williamsburg.
