Shining a Light on Change: Join Historic Alexandria in 'Two Lights for Tomorrow'

Alexandria, VA – Historic Alexandria invites the community to take part in Two Lights for Tomorrow, a nationwide initiative launching the commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary, on April 18 and 19, 2025.  This inspiring event calls on citizens across the country to display two lights as a symbol of unity and collective purpose, honoring the historic ride of Paul Revere on the night of April 18–19, 1775. 

How to Participate

Across the nation, community members, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to place two lights—whether lanterns, candles, or electric displays—in their homes, businesses, as well as cultural and historical sites on April 18 & 19. In Historic Alexandria, Gadsby’s Tavern Museum will place two lights in the Public Dining Room, the room where the new Republic began to take shape through the conversations and choices being made between their walls.
