Music, Storytelling, Community, and Environmental Renewal Mark the Season
Historic Alexandria invites the public to commemorate Juneteenth 2025 and celebrate African American history and culture through a series of free, family-friendly events this June. These programs reflect the City’s commitment to honoring the resilience, achievements, and ongoing contributions of the Black community.
Upcoming Events
RiverRenew Hooffs Run Dedication Day
Saturday, June 7 | 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
African American Heritage Park (500 Holland Lane)
Join us for the dedication of new historic interpretive signage highlighting the story of Hooffs Run and the connection it shares with Alexandria Black History and Culture. Presented in partnership with RiverRenew, this event features educational family activities, native planting demonstrations, and a celebration of ongoing environmental and cultural restoration.
Juneteenth Concert
Thursday, June 19 | 1–3 p.m.
Market Square (301 King St.)
Experience the power of traditional African American storytelling and song with the acclaimed Washington Revels Jubilee Voices. This free outdoor concert honors the journey toward freedom and celebrates the spirit of Juneteenth through moving performances rooted in history and hope. (Weather dependent.)
Juneteenth Festival
Saturday, June 21 | 12–6 p.m.
Charles Houston Recreation Center (901 Wythe St.)
Celebrate Juneteenth at this vibrant community festival featuring music, food, art, education, and cultural expression. This annual event, hosted in partnership with the City’s Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities (RPCA), Momentum Collective Inc., and the Alexandria NAACP, honors the richness of African American heritage through dynamic performances and engaging activities for all ages.
