Military Music Concert at The Lyceum Highlights Alexandria’s Early Band History
Enjoy an evening of historic music at the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum (201 South Washington Street) on Monday, June 23, from 7 to 9 p.m., with a live concert by Music of the Regiment, a wind band that performs military music from the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Inspired by a 1798 call to form a militia band in Alexandria, the concert explores the roots of the Alexandria Band and its ties to early military ensembles in Washington, D.C., including the U.S. Marine Band and the “Italian” Marine Band. The program offers a unique opportunity to experience the music that shaped the early soundscape of the United States.
Tickets are $20 and available at AlexandriaVA.gov/Shop.
Free snacks provided. Wine and beer will be available for purchase.
