Explore Specialty Tours at Alexandria’s Apothecary Museum This October

This October, the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum, 105–107 S. Fairfax Street, is brewing up something special with a lineup of unforgettable Specialty Tours. From potions and poisons to tales straight out of Outlander, there’s a tour for every curious mind. Tickets are available now at alexandriava.gov/Shop. Tours are $15 per person, $12 for Office of Historic Alexandria (OHA) Members. Advance purchase is recommended. Proceeds support Historic Alexandria’s museums.

October Highlights:

  • Poisons at the Apothecary Museum — October 4, 18, 31, 6–7 p.m.
    Celebrate spooky season by uncovering the darker side of medicine. This one-hour tour dives into the poisons once found on the Apothecary’s shelves and what we know about them today. Ages 18+.
  • Outlandish Apothecary — October 19, 11 a.m.–Noon
    Journey through the herbal remedies featured in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novels and learn about the vital role of apothecaries and women in medicine. Ages 18+.
  • New Exhibit: “Disease and the Apothecary” — Now open
    Explore how epidemics like Smallpox, Yellow Fever, and Influenza shaped Alexandria’s past and how science and public health saved lives. Included with admission. Free for Alexandria residents. The new exhibit is also available online.
