Alexandria Black History Museum to Host Free Lecture and Book Signing on June 6

On Saturday June 6, join Jeffrey Bennett author of The Black Belt of Virginia: Untold Stories of African American History. A moderated discussion, brief book reading and book signing will begin at 11a.m. and conclude at Noon. The lecture and book signing are free and open to the public. Reserve your free tickets online in the Historic Alexandria shop.

Jeffrey Bennet is a is a writer specializing in Black history, race relations, and African diaspora studies. Jeff received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University–Commerce. His articles have appeared in TIME, USA Today, Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Virginian-Pilot, Cardinal News, Danville Register & Bee, The Hellfighter Magazine, and Scalawag Magazine.

Patrons attending the event will have an opportunity to preview the Alexandria Black History Museum.

The Meet and Greet, and Book signing will be held at the Alexandria Black History Museum, located at 902 Wythe Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314. For more information, please call (703) 746-4356. Seating is limited, and reservations are encouraged. The Museum is located five blocks from the Braddock Road Metro on the Yellow and Blue Lines. Street parking is available.
