Don't Miss Family Day with Jr. Docents This Summer!
There's still time to experience Family Day with Jr. Docents at Gadsby's Tavern Museum, 134 N. Royal Street! Join us on Sundays through September 6 from 2–5 p.m. Remaining dates are August 9, August 16, August 23, August 30, and September 6. Included with regular museum admission.
Experience Gadsby's Tavern Museum on a specialty tour led by Junior Docents—students 4th grade and older who are trained guides stationed throughout the building. These Sunday afternoons also offer opportunities to dive deeper into history through trivia, hands-on object stations, and a chocolate-making demonstration. Great for all ages, you'll leave inspired by this next generation of historians!
About Gadsby’s Tavern Museum
As America began as a nation during the late 18th century and emerged in the 19th century, Gadsby’s Tavern was the center of social and political life in Alexandria as well as the new Federal City of Washington. The tavern served as the premier gathering place for residents – including George Washington – and visitors to eat, drink, learn, and influence history. Tavern keepers John Wise and John Gadsby hosted balls, performances, and meetings, and their accommodations were known as the best by travelers near and far.
