FACILITY HISTORY
Patrick Henry was an American attorney, planter and politician who became known as an orator during the movement for independence in Virginia. A Founding Father, he served as the first and sixth post-colonial Governor of Virginia, from 1776 to 1779 and from 1784 to 1786.
Recreation Center Renovation
Due to the use of the former Patrick Henry Elementary School as a swing space for MacArthur Elementary School during the 2020-2023 construction period, some of the outdoor amenities at Patrick Henry Recreation Center are not yet completed. The completed amenities are a tot playground, an outdoor basketball court, an intermediate playground, and adult fitness equipment stations are in place and open to the public. The rectangular synthetic turf field with a coach-pitch baseball/softball diamond overlay, a school Kindergarten playground and a permanent parking lot with designated recreation center parking spaces is anticipated to be completed in the Fall of 2023.
