Today is the day! Spring2ACTion for Historic Alexandria

Friends,

Spring2ACTion, the 24-hour giving day, is finally here!  Historic Alexandria needs YOUR HELP in raising $20,000 for the upcoming exhibit, Moss Kendrix - Reframing the Black Image dedicated to featuring the life and work on Moss H. Kendrix, the father of Black Advertising. Kendrix broke away from racist stereotypes and targeted his marketing strategy to African American consumers with positive and aspirational advertising campaigns. He worked with major clients like The Coca-Cola Company and Carnation Milk, often featuring Black athletes and celebrities in his campaigns.

The Moss Kendrix collection includes over 900 photographs and a wide range of archival materials that include advertisements, press releases, programs, magazines, and correspondence that document this PR firm and their new approach to marketing.  With the support of a 2021 Institute for Museum and Library Sciences grant, many of these items have been digitized and made available for exhibition.

Support us during our POWER HOUR event tonight as we aim to have the most individual donors! Event starts at 6 p.m. and we will have a special countdown to the power hour beginning at 7 p.m. Join us at the Lloyd House, 220 N. Washington St. where we will have great refreshments and music- your donation is your admission!

Make your gift!
