Basic Information

Cost: $125 plus travel cost (federal mileage rate from 301 King Street to your location). Each additional program booked on the same day is $100 per group of up to 30 students. Programs for ACPS free. Maximum of five programs per day and location.

Length of time: All programs are approximately 30-40 minutes long.

Space: The school is responsible for providing a space for the program to set up and classes rotate through as needed. For multi-day programs, secure on-site storage for program materials is requested. Parking near the location for loading and unloading up materials is also requested.

  • Ship Science (Grade 4 and up): Why would a ship be found underground? Use dendrochronology and other scientific methods to uncover the mystery behind Alexandria's 18th century ship discovered through archaeology along the waterfront.
  • Hayti: Uncovering an African American neighborhood (Grade 5 and up): Weave together maps, census records, and artifacts from a free Black site to understand the people who lived in this neighborhood.
