All City of Alexandria City Hall Services Relocate Ahead of Renovation; Moves Continue Winter 2025-2026
The City of Alexandria will finish relocating City services and employee offices in January 2026 to prepare for major renovations to City Hall and Market Square.
Winter 2025-2026 Relocation Schedule
More than 300 City employees have already moved from their existing offices to temporary or permanent spaces throughout Alexandria, and the remainder will finish moving out of City Hall by January 2026.
January 2026 Moves
The following offices will move to Tavern Square (421 King Street):
- City Manager's Office
- Mayor and City Council Offices
- City Clerk
- City Attorney's Office
- Department of Planning & Zoning
All Department of Finance in-person services for taxpayers will relocate to 4850 Mark Center Dr., 2nd Floor, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For patrons needing to drop off payments, there will be a drop box located at Bankers Square (100 N. Pitt St).
The Alexandria City Council Chambers will relocate to the Del Pepper Resource Center (4850 Mark Center Dr.). The first City Council meeting at the new location will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
How does this move affect and benefit Alexandrians?
City Hall, an Alexandria landmark, is well over 100 years old. Market Square has been a civic gathering place since the City’s founding in 1749.
