As Chief of Police, I am pleased to present the Alexandria Police Department's 2025 Annual Report. This report reflects the professionalism, dedication, and sustained efforts of our sworn and professional staff in service to the City of Alexandria. Within these pages, you will find an overview of our bureaus and divisions, along with key data that highlights our operational performance and impact throughout the community.

In 2025, Alexandria experienced continued progress in public safety, with overall crime decreasing by 29.53% and remaining below regional and national trends. This achievement reflects the integration of strong community partnerships with data-informed policing practices, enabling the department to more effectively prevent crime, respond to incidents, and strengthen public trust.

During the past year, we further enhanced our use of data to identify trends and support real-time decision-making. By analyzing calls for service, crime patterns, and community input, we are better positioned to anticipate needs, allocate resources efficiently, and address emerging issues proactively. This approach also reinforces our commitment to experiences of the community we serve.

Our focus on collaboration is further demonstrated by Alexandria's recognition as one of the top 15 communities nationally for participation in National Night Out among cities with populations between 100,000 and 300,000. This distinction reflects the strength of our neighborhood engagement and the continued development of trusted relationships between the department and the community.

In closing, I extend my sincere appreciation to the men and women of the Alexandria Police Department for their professionalism and commitment to public service. Their efforts are central to our accomplishments. I also thank our residents, business community, and city leadership for their continued support and partnership.

Tarrick McGuire, Police Chief
