Faith & Blue: Building Relationships in Alexandria

The Alexandria Police Department thanks the faith communities, residents and community partners who made National Faith & Blue Weekend, October 9–12, 2026, a meaningful time of connection. Through conversation, fellowship and service, participants strengthened relationships that support a safer, more connected Alexandria.

A Weekend of Connection

Alexandria hosted the official nationwide kickoff and opening ceremony, along with APD’s inaugural Prayer Breakfast. The gathering brought faith and law enforcement leaders together around Peace, Unity, Leadership and Hope.

From remembrance gatherings and shared meals to community activities and worship services, the weekend created opportunities to meet, listen and learn from one another. These personal connections help build familiarity, encourage understanding and keep conversations going beyond a single event.

Thank you to everyone who welcomed officers, organized activities, volunteered and participated.

Relationships That Continue

Faith & Blue supports the Relationship pillar of APD’s Public Safety Plan by bringing officers and community members together outside their everyday roles. The weekend was another step in the ongoing work of building trust through consistent presence, open communication and shared service.

What Is Faith & Blue Weekend?

Alexandria Police Officers are recognized during a service at the Alfred St Baptist Church during the 2025 Faith & Blue weekend.

Faith & Blue Weekend is a national initiative that brings police departments, faith-based organizations and community members together through activities that encourage conversation, understanding and collaboration.

Launched in 2020 by national police organizations and MovementForward, Inc., Faith & Blue has grown into one of the nation’s largest police-community engagement initiatives.

In Alexandria, Faith & Blue Weekend builds upon APD’s Public Safety Plan, especially its Relationship pillar, by creating welcoming opportunities for residents, faith leaders and police officers to connect outside their traditional roles.

How can I get involved?

Relationships grow throughout the year. Faith & Blue Weekend is one opportunity to connect, but building trust and strengthening community partnerships is an ongoing commitment.

Faith communities, neighborhood organizations, businesses and residents are encouraged to connect with APD year-round. Whether you’re interested in hosting a conversation with officers, organizing a service project or planning a community gathering, we welcome opportunities to get to know one another.
