Covid-19 Operational Guidelines
OHA established the following guidelines to ensure consistent operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. All museums are participating in the ALX Promise Gold program. Staff will regularly re-evaluate these guidelines based on guidance from the CDC, Commonwealth of Virginia, and the Virginia Health Department.

Event Tickets
To purchase tickets to events at the Historic Alexandria Museums and to shop online, visit The Alexandria Shop and select "Events." Visit the Historic Alexandria Calendar for a full list of events.
Admission: Self-Guided Tours
Experience the c. 1785 tavern and 1792 City Tavern independently at your own pace.
- Adults: $5.00
- Children (ages 5 -12): $3.00
- Children four and under are free with a paying adult.
Self-guided admission can only be purchased in-person at the museum at the time of your visit.
Admission: Guided Tours
Want more than the self-guided visit? Take a 45-minute tour with an expert guide! You’ll explore life in the new Republic and learn more about the many people of the tavern. Tours are offered Friday - Sunday and begin on the quarter after the hour at 1:15, 2:15, and 3:15. Recommended for ages 8 and older.
Please arrive 5 minutes prior to the tour beginning. If running late, call the Museum at 703.746.4242. or your reservation will be forfeited 5 minutes after the tour has begun and no refunds will be issued. You will have the option of going through the museum on your own if you arrive after your tour time.

To purchase your guided tour tickets in advance, please visit our online store and select "Events."
Keys to the City only include self-guided tour admission, however guests may take the guided tour for an additional $3 per person if space is available. The upgraded guided tour admission may only be purchased in-person at the museum.
Discounts
Discounts on self-guided tours are available to AAA Members and visitors who have dined at Gadsby's Tavern Restaurant. Click here for $1.00 off your visit! Good for self-guided tour only; limit one coupon per visit.
Free admission (when space is available) for both self-guided and guided tours are available for:
- City of Alexandria residents.
- Alexandria City Employees.
- American Alliance of Museum members (AAM) and Virginia Association of Museums Members (VAM).

Active duty military personnel and their families as well as for veterans.
- Members of the Gadsby's Tavern Museum Society and HHMC member organizations.
Group Services
Groups of eight or more people can arrange for a group tour at the discounted rate of $6 per person. There is a $100 minimum for tours outside of regular museum hours. Costumed guides may be available for an additional $50 flat rate. In order to receive the group rate, tours must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance of the tour date and pay in full before day of arrival. Accessibility
The Museum is not wheelchair accessible beyond the first floor. The City of Alexandria complies with the terms of ADA. An individual with a disability who wishes to request a reasonable accommodation may contact the Museum at 703.746.4242 at least one day prior to visit.

The Museum Shop at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum offers a wide variety of gifts and merchandise associated with the tavern and historic Alexandria. Products include private label wine, holiday ornaments, children’s items and a large selection of books related to taverns in America. Directions & Parking
Metered Parking is available on North Royal Street, with two or three hour parking on nearby residential streets. Parking regulations are strictly enforced. There are also convenient parking garages nearby.
From Washington, D.C., and National Airport
Take the George Washington Parkway south, past the airport, into Alexandria. The Parkway becomes Washington Street in the City. Go about a mile, past Queen Street, and turn left on Cameron Street, opposite Christ Church. Go three blocks and turn right on North Royal Street. Gadsby's Tavern Museum is located on the right, next to Gadsby's Tavern Restaurant.
From I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway)
Take the US Route 1 North exit (first exit on the Virginia side of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge). Follow Route 1 (Patrick Street) about one mile. Turn right on King Street, go six blocks, and turn left onto North Royal Street. Gadsby's Tavern Museum is located at the end of the block, on the left, at the corner of North Royal and Cameron Streets.
By Metro
Take the yellow or blue line to the King Street Station; then walk a half block to King Street. Turn right (east) on King Street and walk down hill about 1 1/2 miles to North Royal Street. Turn left, and Gadsby's Tavern Museum will be on your left near the end of the block. Or take the FREE King Street Trolley to King and Royal Streets.
By Train
Take Amtrak or Virginia Railway Express to Alexandria's Union Station (across the tracks from King Street Metro station). Upon exiting the train station, walk to your right to King Street and follow directions from Metro.
