Green Street Sidewalk Project

Background
The purpose of this project is to fill a sidewalk gap on Green Street between South Royal Street and South Fairfax Street, which is a block away from the Basilica School of Saint Mary, adjacent to the Community Garden, and close to numerous households.
Currently, there is no sidewalk on the south side of the street, forcing people to either walk in the street or cross Green Street to continue along their route. Filling this sidewalk gap would provide a more continuous path for people walking to school, the park and community garden, and throughout the neighborhood.
Green Street was identified as a priority sidewalk project in the adopted Alexandria Mobility Plan (AMP). This project also supports the AMP policy to provide a safe, connected sidewalk network.
