Conservation continues with ship timbers soaking in PEG 3350
April 2025
Conservation work on the Hotel Indigo Ship remnant continues at Texas A&M University’s Conservation Research Lab (CRL). The timbers are now soaking in PEG 3350 that will replace the water within the wood. They will then go into the freeze dryer. After experiencing some unanticipated delays, the ship remnant is now expected to finish treatment and return to Alexandria in Spring 2027, a delay of about a year from previous estimates.
