PEG Treatment Continues

December 2025

Conservation work on the Hotel Indigo Ship remnant continues at Texas A&M University’s Conservation Research Lab (CRL). However, due to unanticipated setbacks the project timeline has shifted. The vats for soaking timbers in polyethylene glycol (PEG) are located outside. Continuous heavy rains over the spring and summer diluted the concentration of PEG in the basins holding the Hotel Indigo Site ship timbers. Staff at the CRL determined that the best course of action would be to restart the PEG soaking process, leading to a delay in the project schedule. The ship remnant is now anticipated to return to Alexandria in Fall 2028.
