Community Health Improvement
Alexandria Health Department works with residents and community partners to ensure all Alexandrians have the opportunity to thrive.
Alexandria is currently developing 2030 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP 2030). The plan will have three focus areas: mental wellness, Arlandria, and Landmark/Van Dorn.
Community Health Assessment - The Results are In!
From June 2024 - June 2025, the Alexandria Health Department conducted an extensive Community Health Assessment (CHA). We found there are large differences in health between our neighborhoods.
We did not get here overnight. Our health is a result of policies, systems, programs, and actions over decades. Those policies and systems—often grounded in structural racism and all forms of discrimination, including ageism, ableism, sexism, etc.—still impact access to necessary resources, services, and environments. As a result, different populations in our community have worse health than others.
Let’s work together to move the needle on health outcomes!
