Alexandria Health Department has this season's COVID-19 and flu vaccines for uninsured people only. Vaccines are available at a sliding fee scale by appointment only.

STI Services, Family Planning, and Reproductive Care
AHD welcomes people of all gender identities and sexual orientations.

- Family Planning including birth control, pregnancy testing, counseling, and morning-after pill
- Breast cancer and cervical cancer screenings
- Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Services - testing and treatment of STIs, and DoxyPEP for transgender women and men who have sex with men to prevent infection within 3 days of having sex

Tuesdays: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (closed 12-1 p.m.)

Thursdays: 1 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Fridays: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. (walk-ins only, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.)

Immunizations/Vaccines

Routine immunizations for infants, children, teens, and adults. AHD also provides mpox vaccines.
BabyCare Program for Pregnant People and Babies Under 2

BabyCare is an at-home Medicaid-approved program to foster safe and healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. Services are available by appointment only to eligible pregnant women and/or children up to two years old.

Newcomer Health Services - For People with Refugee or Humanitarian Status

- Referrals to other health, mental health, and community services in Alexandria

Tuberculosis (TB) Clinic

Evaluation, treatment, and prevention treatment services for tuberculosis (TB).
- Screening and testing clinics for adults 19 years and older
- Immunization Clinic provides TB tests for children

ALX Breathes for Asthma/COPD
ALX Breathes is a free, one-on-one program for eligible Alexandria residents with asthma or COPD. Health experts will work with residents to understand what may be triggering breathing issues and co-create a plan to improve breathing. Experts can help with issues involving home condition issues, access to medical care, and access to resources that can support health and well-being.

Free Narcan & Fentanyl Test Strips

Free, confidential Narcan and fentanyl test strips and education on how to use them are available for all. Pick up appointments available. Walk-ins welcome.

Free Emergency Contraceptive (aka Plan B)
Available to all in Alexandria. Pick up a free package of emergency contraceptive at Alexandria Health Department's Main Office on the 4th floor at 4850 Mark Center Drive. No appointments necessary.
A nurse will give you the package and explain how Plan B can be used to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex.

- Insurance cards. If you do not have health insurance, you may be charged some fees based on a sliding fee scale.
