BabyCare
What is Alexandria's BabyCare Program?
The BabyCare program is a Medicaid approved program provided by the Alexandria Health Department to foster safe and healthy pregnancies and healthy babies by coordinating services and providing education. BabyCare services are provided by Health Department Public Health Nurses, experts in the health of mothers and children. Our services include:
- Case management services (like recommending and/or arranging other available support services)
- Home visits to help you meet your health goals
- Pregnancy care including education classes, nutrition services, and health monitoring
- Infant/Child care including developmental screening, breastfeeding support, and health and safety teaching

Who is eligible for BabyCare in Alexandria?
To be eligible, clients must live in the City of Alexandria, be eligible for Medicaid, and have social risks and medical risks listed below.

How do I sign up for the BabyCare Program?
The BabyCare Program is available to pregnant women and children under the age of two who are enrolled in Virginia Medicaid or most Virginia Medicaid Managed Care programs.
