What does health look like to YOU? As part of Alexandria's Community Health Assessment 2024-25, Alexandria Health Department wants to find out. 

So, we're inviting Alexandria residents to submit photos and videos to our community-wide photo album through Sunday, May 4. Here's how it works: 

Take Your Pictures

Walk around your neighborhood or community you spend time in. Think about your typical day. Where do you go, who do you see, what impacts your wellness?

• What makes our community healthy?
• What are you most proud of in our community?
• What would most improve quality of life in our community?
• What is most important to you in your community?
• What are the greatest strengths of Alexandria?
• What does wellness/well-being mean to you?
• What do you think hurts your health in your community?

SUBMIT YOUR PHOTOS AND VIDEOS

There will be several ways people can submit photos. Submissions close on Sunday, May 4. 

1. Share on social media.
   1. Post images/videos and tag AHD social media accounts (your account must be public). Feel free to use the hashtag #ALXCHA so your followers can explore other images submitted to the album.

      3. Facebook @Alexandria Health Department
   2. OR direct message them privately to @alexandriahealth on Instagram or @Alexandria Health Department on Facebook.
2. Email them to healthmatters@vdh.virginia.gov. Please note, depending on the size of your images/videos, you may have to send multiple emails.

By emailing my photographs to healthmatters@vdh.virginia.gov, or submitting them on social media, I hereby consent to the use of my photographs and/or videos by Alexandria Health Department. If I submit a caption, I recognize that Alexandria Health Department may or may not use it in connection with these photographs. Photographs and videos will be listed anonymously unless I include my name in the descriptions for attribution (AHD will not list your social media handle if submitted through social). My email or social media submission signals my consent to these terms. Photographs and videos with identifiable individuals (i.e. containing persons' faces) will not be used and will not be publicly disseminated by Alexandria Health Department.

Rules

• Respect other peoples’ privacies. Do not include faces in your photos
• Provide accurate depictions – no false lights of others!
• Make sure you are safe when capturing images of Alexandria – do not walk out into traffic or hang off ledges!
• Have fun! This is a great activity with friends and family.

Alexandria Health Department will analyze the pictures and videos and gather some key takeaways to help inform the Community Health Assessment. 

Also, Alexandria Health Department may include some images in the final Community Health Assessment report, the Community Health Improvement Plan, and other Alexandria Health Department communications. 

Videos may be shared on social media in content promoting the Community Health Assessment, the Community Health Improvement Plan, and other Alexandria Health Department communications.
