Celebrate Juneteenth in Alexandria
The City of Alexandria is hosting several events across the community, including a concert and the Juneteenth Festival, to celebrate Juneteenth. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Although dates of Emancipation vary throughout the country, Juneteenth has come to symbolize the process of emancipation across the nation. Juneteenth has been a State Holiday in Virginia since 2020 and a federal holiday since 2021. To find out more about how the City is celebrating, visit the Juneteenth website.
